This concert performance of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway masterpiece, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, features Patti Lupone as Mrs. Lovett and veteran stage actor George Hearn in the title role. The work, a musical thriller of romance and revenge set in Victorian England, premiered to unanimous critical and audience acclaim in 1979 and went on to win 9 New York Drama Desk Awards and 8 Tony Awards.

Presented to sold-out audiences in July of 2001 at Davies Symphony Hall, the all-star cast led by the divine Ms. LuPone and Mr. Hearn were accompanied by the world-class San Francisco Symphony, under the direction of Rob Fisher. This magnificent performance has been captured in its entirety on video with stunning clarity and rich multichannel sound.

Second of two consecutive captures during Caissie Levy's absence. Teal Wicks as (s/b) Elphaba, Megan Hilty, John Rubinstein, Jo Anne Worley, Kristoffer Cusick, Marcie Dodd, Michael Drolet, Timothy Britten Parker. Beautiful capture with amazing closeups. Performances were fantastic all the way around. Teal is extraordinary - one of the very best ever - and Megan is at the top of her game. A+
