VIDEOS
1.Phantom of the Opera
1/9/88 - Broadway
First Broadway Preview
Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman, Steve Barton
Not bad quality for its age. 1 DVD B

2.Phantom of the Opera
1999/2000 - Mexico
Saulo Vasconcelos, Claudia Cota Gamez (u/s)/Iresema Terrezas, Jose Joel.
Rather random selection of highlights from two performances. First performance has
Claudia and goes from Overture through Wishing. Second performance has Iresema,
is shot from same angle and starts from Auction before cutting off abruptly right before
the Kiss. Some overlapping scenes, but not too many. 1 DVD B+
3.The Phantom of the Opera
3/9/00 - London
Scott Davies, Meredith Braun, Matt Cammelle.
Very well shot video that captures most of the action, a couple of annoying heads in the way now and again but nothing to dramatic, Scott’s Phantom has to be seen to be believed. A

4.Phantom of the Opera
10/15/04 ~ London
John Owen-Jones, Rachel Barrell, Oliver Thornton, Anthony Cable (u/s Firmin), Sam Hiller, Sally Harrison, Emma Edwards (u/s Madame Giry), Rohan Tickell, Claire Tilling
Incredibly clear picture, with many tight zooms. The audio is great throughout. This was filmed from the very far right side of the dress circle in Her Majesty's, in 'limited view' seats, so there are a few obstructions. 2 DVDs A-
5.Phantom of the Opera
1991 - Toronto
Colm Wilkinson, Rebecca Caine, Byron Nease ( Patti Cohenour )
51 minute choppy highlights - very Phantom and Mme Giry focused. A bit of snow at the
bottom, colours are washed out, occasional skipping, and the picture varies between dark and overbright. Other than that, the picture is clear for its age and there are no obstructions. Nice balance of steady wide shots and zooms. Picture only for most of the AIAOY Reprise. I'd expected to like Colm more than I did- I didn't find he cared much about Christine and he felt a bit contrived to me. I didn't like Patti's acting - very typical mesmerized, wide eyed- but the highlights don't really show enough of her to judge completely 1 DVD B
6.Phantom of the Opera
12/28/00 – Broadway - Matinee
Howard McGillin, Lisa Vroman (alt), Gary Mauer, George Lee Andrews, Jeff Keller,
Leila Martin, Elena Jeanne Batman, Larry Wayne Morbitt, Joelle Gates
Audio only for first 9 minutes of Act I and first 12.5 minutes of Act II. Image is on the
dark side and not much detail can be seen in the darker scenes, but audio is good.
Some snow and picture warping at the top of the screen, but faces are still clearly visible.
Shot from left balcony. C
